This is the story of what happens to babies who are born too soon – boldly told from the point of view of the machine that keeps them alive.
For the 50,000 babies who are born prematurely each year, the incubator provides a chance of survival. As they begin life inside this plastic womb surrounded by machines, tubes and under 24-hour medical supervision, this moving film enters the world of neonatal intensive care to follow the stories of four families.
In a world of high emotions and anxiety, we share the most precious of moments as parents hold their baby for the first time, follow them through life-saving surgery and after many months in hospital, join them as they eventually leave hospital as a family.
